Bhutan Tariff

This page has all the information to help you estimate your travel cost to Bhutan. We would like to inform our valued customers that the Royal Government of Bhutan has revised the minimum daily tariff from US$220 per person to US$250 with effect from January 2009. However, in the event of the recent economic recession, the increase in tariff is postponed till further notice.

Any tour operator offering tour packages with less than the government prescribed minimum daily tariff is a definitive act of undercutting and is prosecutable under the law of the country. The government sets the minimum daily tariff so that the tourism industry can sustain for years to come and at the same time the policy is targeted to balance between the economic gain and protection of unique culture and tradition of Bhutan.

2009 Tariff for Retty Tours & Treks

  1. For individual traveler: US$ 270 per person per day.
  2. For two person traveling together US$ 250 per person per day.
  3. For three person traveling together US$ 220 per person per day.
  4. For a group of four or more traveling together US$ 200 per person per day.

The tariff is same for both cultural tour and trekking. However we require a minimum of three people to arrange a trekking program. This is because the daily tariff cannot meet the trekking expenses when the group is less than three people. For trekking, we require a minimum of seven horses, two cooks, and a guide even for individual travelers. All supplies for the trek needs to carried on horseback as there are no shops, restaurants or hotels on trekking routes.

Single Room Supplements: The quoted tariff is valid for accommodation on twin sharing basis and US$ 20 will be applicable incase single room accommodation is requested.

Remittance of tour payment: Tour payment must be settled at least a few months prior to the date of your arrival for the high season. The main reason being the fact that your ticket must be issued at least three months prior to your arrival date. Since Bhutan has only one airline operating to many destinations in a given week, plus the fact that there are thousands of tourists visiting Bhutan at the same time, it virtually becomes impossible to issue tickets at a later date. Your visa is cleared by the government subject to advance payment only. Money transfer charges must be borne by the remitter. We need to receive the exact sum quoted for the trip.
